Sequences

In addition to completing the core requirements, students must complete a sequence of courses for a particular communication field. Sequences are journalism: online, electronic and print; and strategic communications: advertising or public relations.

General requirements

  • Students must have a grade of C (2.0) or better in any required communications course or they must repeat the required course before advancing in the school’s curriculum.
  • Mass Communication majors are required to have a minor, a set of courses in a field of study outside the School of Mass Communication. Requirements for minors are specified elsewhere in the bulletin.
  • Students are required to complete an internship to gain professional experience in their field of study.
  • The Mass Communication major is 40 hours. No more than 40 hours in Mass Communication courses may be counted toward the 120 hours needed for the degree.
